New Handbags on Etsy: Monsters and Cherry Blossoms

It is sweltering here in Melbourne, but for some reason I am sitting in a non-air conditioned room updating my etsy store.

I've put up four bags into my shop with a range of fabrics ranging from Monsters to Cherry Blossoms. I'm rather proud of the Wizard of Oz bag ...

All fabrics are high quality quilting fabrics and the bags are 100% cotton and therefore machine washable (which is good when you have kids).

Straps are extra long and slides are nickel plated.

Borders Craft Fair

After a slow start, the Konstant Kaos Christmas craft fairs are starting to come together. It will be a busy season, with teaching and juggling Tori, but hopefully worth it.

The latest one through is a new initiative from Borders in Carlton. I think the best bit about this fair is that we can wander through Borders and spend our earnings ... or maybe not! Borders are keen to support crafty peeps and encourage local groups to meet at their Gloria Jeans cafe for coffee and craft.

This is a lovely intimate craft fair and I am excited about the range of designers that they have lined up;First Morning Textiles, Cat McInnes, CSerpent Art, Mrs Beckinsale, Finki Handmade, Found n Bound, Betty and Hamish, Our Sweet William, Konstant Kaos, Made by Sarah.

So come along and enjoy the twilight (not in the horrible movie sense) craft fair and support Borders in this wonderful initiative.

Black Market Madness

I really should have taken more pictures, but I was kept busy for most of the day. When I wasn't tending the stall, I was chatting, drinking or grooving to the band that played.

The Black Market on Sunday was fabulous. Unlike other markets, this is actually a really big garage sale on someones double block in Northcote.

So it has a different feel to other markets. Sausage Sizzles, a Band and more importantly beer. Slap Cosmetics came along and shared a stall with me, but I didn't get any pictures of the lovely Nikki and her wares.

I had been fretting for days as to how to display my new fridge magnets and then I found myself thinking of a martini and voila ... cocktail shaker to the rescue!

I had a good day and there were lots of other crafty peeps, including the Melbourne Alternative Crafters. My fabric journal covers sold well, people liking the fact that you could exchange the insides for a diary if you wanted to. Probably a bit early for peoploe buying diaries, I am also glad that I made them a standard size.

On my stall I had a family of softies from Little Cooties keeping me company and people loved them! The lovely Angelica was there, or "Jelli" as Tori calls her from Jellibat with her delightful creations. Angelica is a Northside chick.

But the best thing about the day was coming home to some home made chicken noodle soup, made by the hubby .. we are all down with the snots and coughs at the moment, so this hit the spot.

New things to play with!

Look what the Australia Post man delivered this morning! A box!

I was perplexed as to what it was because I have been trying to be very good with my online purchases lately. I got so excited when I opened it up and I saw what it was ..

I was very excited when these arrived ... little buttons to sell at my Northside Makers Market stall on th 10th of October ... Jennie from Mrs Beckinsale made a point a while back that every stall should have "pocket money items" things that little kids can buy for $1 or $2 ...

When I ordered 100 I thought that would be a lot! But looking at them now, there really isn't that much! I oohed and ahhed about how to actually do buttons. Sticky Institute in Melbourne has a service where you can go in there and use their badge maker, but I would need to find the time to actually go in there. Or I could hire one and spend all weekend making badges, but then I wouldn't be sewing or blogging. So, I ended up engaging the services of KungFuCowgirl on etsy to make them up for me. Very happy with the result and delivery time.

KungFuCowGirl also made me some sample fridge magnets!

They look fabulous on my fridge ... next to all of my photo's!

I'll have to make a few sets up for my etsy store, just deciding which ones to put together!
