My wee man turned 3 this week

Can't believe how fast three years passes you by when you have kids.

I can't believe how slowly 3 months goes by when you have a son on the spectrum.

He is non-verbal, but finds his voice (noise) when he doesn't like what he is doing or how you are doing it. Routines are king, and colours play an important part in his life.

He generally only has two speeds, running and sleeping.
So keeping him still for all sorts of things is a challenge.

New textures are a challenge for him, but he seemed to cope well yesterday with mucky hands when we went to the farm.

And he didn't freak out when the "Robert the Goat" wanted some food.

He was so exhausted and hungry after two hours of running around the farm that he sat and ate lunch, and for a moment I forgot that he was diagnosed last year as being on the spectrum.

The promise of summer

With the weather report saying that the temperatures are going to go up over 20 at the end of the week the promise of summer is around the corner.

I found these picture from last year's visit to the Collingwood Childrens Farm.

For someone so small, Victoria is never afraid of animals.

The first Sunday of each month they have a family day with free pony rides from 10.30 - 2.30pm. On the second Saturday of each month there is a Farmers Market.

Collingwood Children's Farm

Last week we headed off to the Collingwood Children's Farm with Tori and my hubby.

Things to consider when attending "The Farm" ...
  • Family admitance is only $16 .. bargain
  • 10am is when things start to happen ... eg. milking the cow
  • Family Day is Saturday 9th January which involves free Pony rides between 10.30 and 2pm and lots of other things. Get there early to get parking.
Andreas and I are tickled pink that they also do Children's parties and other special things .. right here in the city!

Mothers Day wrapup

We had a lovely Mothers Day at the Collingwood Children's Farm.

We met for lunch and then had a leisurely afternoon strolling around the farm with Tori discovering a whole lot of new things, including feeding the goats.

For the first time Tori also said "Nanna", so that made the day extra special! The one characteristic that I have inherited from my Mum is the ability to try anything once.

Whilst my Mum doesn't see herself as a crafty Mum, I can clearly remember when I was young her making dancing costumes, fancy dress costumes and easter hats for us. Perhaps she has lost her crafty way ...

For Mother's Day I embarked on a marathon sew-a-thon and I made Mum a patchwork scarf with some of my Kokka Ouka Japanese Linen blend fabric with a faux fur backing to it.

I made my Mother in Law a fabric basket to keep her crochet and crafts in from linen and a Moda Fabric. The idea for the fabric basket is from the Zakka book that my hubby got me.
