Tate Modern Lichtenstein merchandise

I ordered some bits and bobs from the Tate Modern in London about a week ago and I was truly excited to have it arrive yesterday!

I got the T-shirt, isn't it cute!

The pillows were rather gorgeous as well, but I can't help feeling that they needed a bit of a border, whether it be a black or white sash. Some of the edge of the artwork is lost in the shape of the pillow.

I am working on some pillows for my school library calm reading space.

My first attempt reminded me too much like Dame Edna, although people seem to like the purple colour scheme. My first attempt using online tutorials on how to "pop" photo's.  This picture took me HOURS .. subsequent attempts at "popping people" have only taken 30-40 minutes.

Dorothy with a bit more refinement below) ... I need to go back and do her hair and make her a bit more funky, change her clothes. I can imagine captions that will be based around reading and being quiet in the calm reading space.

Can you think of any other captions I can use?

Nursery Print for Nicholas

The work that I have been doing in illustrator has re-ignited by interest in graphic design. In Year 12 I did Graphic Communication and loved it. Mind you, back then it was all about analog and not digital techniques!

I have done this nursery print for Nicholas' bedroom. He has a frame with the first picture of earth from outer space and I wanted a piece that would compliment this picture. I am still futzing around and making improvements, so it is likely the final product will change some more.

Is the black too severe?

I'll probably look at popping this into a Ribba frame from ikea, the silver one.

What do you think?

Lichtenstein re-visited

Going through a real pop art Lichtenstein phase at the moment. The Tate Modern in London have had a Lichtenstein exhibition on and have lots of cool stuff for sale in their online shop if you are interested.

It is an interesting artform and one that I am drawn to at the moment because of the simple lines and bold colours.

I was contemplating what the mad men cast would look like re-done as a bit of pop art and I came across this piece along. Who else is excited about Season 6 of Mad Men?

Society 6

If you like the Morris Minor Pop Art pillow ... I have uploaded it to the Konstant Kaos Society 6 store.

Isn't she cute?

I have ordered some digitally printed fat quarters so that I can have a play with my sewing machine as well.

My creative space: Morris Minor

I have three quilts waiting to be finished and when I finished my last uni essay two days ago ... all I wanted to do was play with illustrator!

I figured I didn't have enough UFO's hanging about, I'd best create some more. I grabbed the hold of an image of my Morris Minor 1000 and thought I would "poppify" it ..

I might get this printed up onto fabric to make some cushions ...Actually there is method in the madness .. I am putting together some pillows for our school library calm reading space. We obtained a lichtenstein inspired rug and picture, and so I wanted to do some pillows with quirky library phrases on them like " Happiness is a cup of tea and a good book".

I have taken a picture of one of the hold Headmistresses and have "popified her". I am still not happy with "Dot", the pink and orange doens't seem to work ... what do you think she might be saying?
