Zakka start to the year

I felt I needed something to start the school year with. I love the japanese idea of Zakka, making something extraordinary out of something quite ordinary ...

I am all excited over this computer keyboard material I got through a few weeks back ... I am IT teacher after all!

So, a good opportunity to play around with my covered diary pattern again and make some more improvements to my product.

I decided to wrap around the keyboard fabric around the front of the diary.

The back of the diary has a flap that can be used as a divider or you can tuck it into the back band for a more "traditional" cover. Surprise lining inside, circuitry!

I also put some elastic on the cover to close the diary up!

I also had a strip of black canvas left over, so I thought I would try my hand at a quick bag to carry all my important book writing stuff in.

Straining a bit because there is lots of important stuff in it!

Konstant Kaos Pencils

The lovely Beky from Pivotal Xpressions made me some prototype pencils for my enjoyment!

Oh! They look lovely tucked into one of my covered diaries .. I might just have to make a pencil holder for them to go into!

I'm excited to think what Beky might have on her Christmas stall at the Northside Makers Market in late November! I've been writing in my sketchbook with them ... I think I might get some more made!

I've also been working on some more diary covers today, from left over material in my workroom. These are are one of a kind covers, I may not make any more of these designs ... :(

New Konstant Kaos goodies

Here are a few things that I will have at my stall on Sunday at the The Black Market.

Date:
Sunday, October 18, 2009
Time:
12:00pm - 6:00pm
Location:
By the banks of the Merri Creek
Street:
7 Eunson Avenue
City/Town:
Northcote, Australia

My crime scene pillows will make an appearance ...

And I have been slaving away at the ol' Janome to make some 2010 diary covers out of my usual fabrics.

It took me ages to find a diary insert that I finally liked. I ended up going for a day to a page with space for a priority list.

Here is an arty farty shot showing the different linings.

*grins* After a week of doing school reports, marking and Year 12 practice exam marking, it was good to get behind the machine and create something unique.
