June Craft Hatch

A very cold day was spent inside at the very warm City Library. Even though I was dressed in far too many layers, within about 15 minutes of setting up I realised that being on the gallery level of the City Library meant toasty!

I managed to bring along my new Ikea hat stand to hang my bags on which left more table space to layout my quilts on what I previously used for bags and tops. I sold enough for it to be worthwhile, although I felt that my textile based craft was a bit pedestrian compared with the arty crafty stuff of the design students that were there.

I had my back to the banister which ran along the gallery level, an ideal spot to sit my quilts as I worked on them. Lots of interest in the red and white one with top stitching. I managed to finish the binding on the quilt that will go to my neighbour who is due in 3 weeks time and do a bit of embroidery as well.

One of my neighbours was Nancy Girl. She made these divine iPhone pouches from leather that she had carved a picture onto and then coloured by hand. Very Northside!

On the other side of me was the very lovely, and very pregnant Mrs Beckinsale with one of her new tram design cushions. I love the geometric prints that she is now using.

Another Northside Gal Flickettysplits ... back in one piece from the Northern Territory.

These great lamps. You can buy them blank or with an image on them. I was dreaming of a Totoro one for Tori's room ... (when I find her card I will put a link in!)

And Sandra Eterovic with her gorgeous illustrations ..

My plastic tubs are still in the hall way waiting on being unpacked and stored away for the next Market in two weeks time on Sunday 27th June, North Melbourne Market run by Thread Den. Hoping to get a few more quilts done, bags and some larger "nappy" bags as well.

Wonderful

"Wonderful" adequately describes the day that we had yesterday. After a week of so of nervous energy and a week praying for good weather, the market day came and went and it was lovely. A big thank-you to Jay and Jennie for all their hard work and support. Seperately, we wouldn't have been able to do it, but together, I think we make a good team.

My wonderful husband who manned my stall for most of the day so I could swan around and do Northside stuff ... I couldn't have done it without him *kiss kiss*

I managed to get two of my crime scene pillows made for the day ... but everyone said that they were missing blood! Left over stock will be popped up on etsy over the next week, after I finish my school reports.

Karen from Cosmic Cat Creations with her very first market stall. I remember my first market stall which was Northcote Kris Kringle last year ... nervous a hell.

Beky from Pivotal Xpressions at her second market. Beky and Karen were some of the lovely peeps who arrived nice and early to help us set up.

Flick with her wonderful softies.

Anna from Polly Pratt, she has lots of stuff for sale at the Olive Grove in Sydney Road, Brunswick.

Two little fairies enjoying the face painter!

Over the next week we have to organise the application for November market and also evaluate the last one, we already have two applications for November in the inbox, but we haven't published prices or details yet. I've read through the feedback sheets and the comments are mostly good with lots of great ideas for the next market. If you have any more please send them through to either me, Jennie from Mrs Beckinsale or Jaylene from Finki Handmade.

Thank-you especially to all my friends who came along on the day and supported me and our first market. It was wonderful to see familiar faces amongst the crowd of market goers.

Made n Thornbury Wrap Up

With the roller coaster which was Made n Thornbury followed by Fathers Day, I haven't had a moment to post about my day! The thing that I love about Made n Thornbury is that there is a small collection of stall owners, all of which are women in business (or micro business).

Such a lovely supportive group of chicks in biz. Mrs Beckinsale was there with her Tram Cushions, Curlypops with her lovely brooches and also Felicity or Flickitysplitts with her Cattacus Softies.

New to Konstant Kaos was my coin/key wallets. D ring on the side for hanging off chains, hook to link keys onto and big enough to keep a licence.

I tried some different fabrics and my dracula, frankenstein and computer circuit wallets sold the quickest!

Got to meet some new groovy people. My neighbour was Liz from Loophole Community Centre. They are doing such fun stuff at Loophole, check them out!

My stash for the day included some lovely calling cards from Pivotal Xpressions, brooch from Finki Handmade, teddy brooch from Very Cherry Stew and the doily with scissors screen printed on it from Liz from Loophole.

Come and visit me at Made n Thornbury Market

It has been a busy week teaching, sewing, caring for Tori.

I have been looking forward to this market all week. The Made n Thornbury market is a gorgeous intimate makers market with a great bunch of women who all run micro-businesses.

Hoping that you can make it, even if it is just to say hello. I noticed that a few houses down from the Market will also have organised garage sales on that day, so the street will be buzzing!

There will be plenty of crafty people there including Pivotal Xpressions, Finki, Mrs Beckinsale, Flickettysplits, Cheeky Little Monsters and Curlypops.
