Material Goodness

You know you are a frequent buyer when you wander into your favourite patchwork store and the owner wanders up and shows you a pile of fabrics that she has put aside for you in their sale *giggles* Made my day! I had spent the previous hours on the couch sleeping. Sore throat, but really exhausted.

I came away with a modest purchase of fabrics; Alexander Henry Snuggle Skull, some really cute Kokka fabric that will become cute mini lunch totes, some standard skull fabric and some purple skeleton fabric. All good! I was hoping to make a quick stop at GJ's on my way to the Yarn Barn to get more Merino for my current crochet project ... instead I went and looked at VnV Boutique on Lygon Street. From the outside it looks like your average goth shop, but their range is probably more alternative and from next week they will have gallery space opening up for alternative artists. Interesting.

So, just incase you didn't pick up this interesting fact from my post ... GJ's in East Brunswick have a 25% off sale for the next week until next Wednesday. Enjoy!

Material Obsession

Some new material for my stash ...

The first collection is from Favorite Fabrics in the US. The movie director fabric and popcorn is for a custom order and the cherry is for me! The lovely ladies at Fav Fab couldn't fulfill my order of the Robert Kaufman movie director fabric in a continuous length, so I opted for some popped corn as the remainder ... I am sure that some matching drool or dinner bibs might work well in this!

My second collection bundle of fabrics was the result of a visit to my dentist on friday. 1 hour of dental surgery and a new crown later and I found myself in a daze driving towards Patchwork on Central Park in Malvern. If you haven't been to this store, then you must make a day of it. Lynn has the most gorgeous store with a small gift shop in addition to their huge patchwork collection.

Anyway, they had a collection of fabrics that was 1/2 price if you bought over a metre ... so I did. The underwear fabric is called "Lingerie" by Alexander Henry and is a 2005 print, so rather hard to get a hold of. It might make for an interesting bag lining, or underwear bag lining. What would you do with it?

Material Goodness

It has indeed been a busy week. I have been working on a "special project" which has left my fingers bleeding and my machine smoking and I am looking forward to sharing it with you all once the intended person has received it. My husband said that it is my best work to date ...

I had dropped by Patchwork on Central the other week to see what fabrics they had and I picked up these ones. I have already cut out the lining for a money belt for *me* from the Alexander Henry pattern fabric and I have used the space fabric for both a special order and also resin badges. The red Ouka will be used for something special and the fat quarter of the black flowery fabric will be used for a dress for Tori. Too much goodness. I must admit that I am like a kid in a candy store when I visit either Patchwork or GJ's ...

Anyway, must get back to the sewing machine. Tori is in childcare, the cats are sleeping on the bed in the work room enjoying the chaos around them and I should be sewing the orders I got from two shops the other day!
